Who we are - What we do
TRIDIMONT
is specialized in making models of Italian dinosaurs, other reptiles and fossils
for museums, exhibitions and parks, but we can also produce, at your request,
models of living or fossil animals coming from other countries and continents.
Furthermore we produce various kinds of casts and dioramas, also including optical
fibres lightening of showcases or single reproductions.
Our products are created using
materials in accordance with EEC lines and can be set outdoor.
Models' Accuracy
TRIDIMONT pays utmost attention to the scientific accuracy of the models while reproducing them, having at its disposal the advice of palaeontologists experts in the particular organisms that are to be replied. You can see a certification of this by reading the following article written by Dr. Giuseppe Leonardi, an ichnologist expert in the analysis of fossil dinosaurs and other reptiles footprints:

"TRIDIMONT tridimensional full-size or reduced-scale reproductions of dinosaurs and other fossil animals are not mass produced as it usually happens . They are patiently built, one by one, by order of scientific institutions, mostly starting from fossil skeletons discovered in Italy, or when it is possible from fossil tracks discovered in Italian areas. The reproductions are the result of the co-operation between palaeontologist specialized in palaeoichnology (study of the fossil tracks) and palaeoherpetology (study of reptiles fossils), and the sculptor. At first we have obtained all the parameters about the prints and the tracks deducing through them all the available data about the animal who caused them, including data concerning its behaviour (gait, carriage, speed, direction), its sociology (association with other individuals inside herds, flocks or packs, relationship between carnivores and herbivores, interaction among groups) and ecology (relationship with the surrounding environment). Afterwards the track has been classified and hereby attributed to a particular family; then the skeleton of the reptiles (or other animals) with similar features has been studied and measured; the result of the process has led to a reproduction which represents the single animal responsible for the track; this individual is showed in size and mass, as well as in the gait and in the position from which he produced that particular track. Also the epidermis is being produced according to the few data available for each animal fossil family; the colour of the reproduction is being made keeping in mind universal laws, on the basis of Actualism; in particular thermodynamic laws (larger animals are usually darker and more monotonous than the smaller or than the young ones of the same species) and mimicry. The design of the reproductions is being made by the palaeontologist, who supervises the steps of both the model and the full-scale reproduction, sometimes taking part actively. The dialogue between the palaeontologist and the sculptor has permitted the working out of problems (until now unresolved) about the biomechanics of not well known animals, of unusual and unlikely gaits, and of running speed which contradict the previous information we had about that animals. The same attention is being devoted to the possible base of the model, which represents faithfully the environment where the animal has lived and upon which the tracks used for the reconstruction are being reproduced."
